2. Babies born with a low weight

There are several things that can cause babies born with underweight, namely exposure to cigarette smoke, genetic disorders, anemia during pregnancy, and lack of nutrition consumed by pregnant women. Babies born with a low body weight are at higher risk for respiratory problems, infections, hypothermia, brain disorders, gastrointestinal problems, and blood sugar deficiency.

3. The baby is born prematurely

Pregnant women who are often exposed to cigarette smoke are at high risk for delivering premature babies. These babies born prematurely can be affected by some serious health problems, such as:
  • Disorders of certain organs, such as the digestive tract and breathing.
  • Congenital heart disease.
  • Infection.
  • Jaundice.
  • Difficulty or do not want to suckle.
  • Bleeding in blood vessels of the brain.
In addition, smoking near pregnant women can also interfere with fetal lung health. This makes it at risk of breathing problems, such as asthma, later in life.

4. Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) syndrome

Babies may have sudden infant death syndrome or SIDS if pregnant women inhale cigarette smoke. SIDS is a condition when a baby dies suddenly while sleeping, whereas before he looked fine. In addition to the health problems above, smoking near a pregnant woman may also cause learning disabilities or growth and development obstacles in children after she is born. The impact of smoking near a pregnant woman can be very dangerous to the health of her baby. So, be careful when smoking, you should even stop smoking from now on.
